Aug. 28 Mini: Japanese Gardens ~ Georgetown

Do you ever have those moments when you feel like you're on cloud nine...that's how I felt editing the images from this mini session!  The first session was Baby B's 1 year pictures - complete with her special birthday outfit!  I've included a slideshow of images up to her first year.  Her parents opted for me to photograph her at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 months.  Watch her grow!

The second family heard about me from a teacher at their school.  Yay for referrals!  :)  And I believe this makes the 11th...maybe 12th family from this school.  I enjoyed photographing this fun and put together family!  Enjoy!

Aug 21 Mini Session: Liberty Hall ~ Frankfort

We definitely tossed the dice and gambled with the weather for this mini session...our drive from Lexington to Frankfort became darker and darker due to ominous clouds.  Luckily the rain held...a few sprinkles right before our session made our hearts jump and run for cover (c'mon...all you ladies who take the time to straighten your hair understand our frizz issues ;) )

My first session was with Baby J...well I guess Little Boy J...he is almost 1.5 years old...so they really aren't babies anymore, right?!  Little Boy J's mom and I used to work together at school and our boys were born just a few weeks apart.  It was neat to go through our pregnancies together - waiting for the updates after our appointments, especially that 20 week one when you find out if your little kick-boxer has indoor or outdoor plumbing.  ;)

The second session was for my sister-in-law and her family.  Does her husband look familiar?!  He might...he's my husband's twin.  We have the same OB and even he got a little confused at first when their family first moved here...he thought MY husband had gotten two different women pregnant.  But he was quickly relieved to find out they were brothers.  Anyway, here are a few pictures from their family/maternity session.  Can't wait to meet their little bundle of joy (pink or blue...we won't find out until his/her birthday...I don't know where they muster the will to resist!!).

McConnell Springs' Aug Mini Session

I had the pleasure of meeting two new customers for this mini session.  Thanks for the referrals everyone, keep it up!  :)  Our evening started out with the W family and their 2 year old daughter picking flowers and exploring the trail.  Next we had Miss C with her 6 month pictures...which she mostly showed me her furrowed brow, but we were able to sneak in and capture a few smiles!  We wrapped up with a repeat customer to document their youngest son's 1st birthday and oldest son's birthday pictures.  Mmmm...the cake makes my mouth water!  Enjoy!

Miss M: 9 months

Miss M's mama told me about the little tutu months ago!  I'm such a sucker for tutus and everything frilly, girly, or rustic.  :)  Miss M looks more and more like her mama with each session.  During this session we were able to capture a milestone...the first time she clapped her hands!  Yay!  I hope you enjoy.

Joseph: Senior Portraits

Wow...I think it has been almost 2 weeks since my last post!  I've been busy busy editing a wedding, regular sessions and my first mini session for Aug (you'll see them later on).  Anyway, whew...I'm finally caught up with ALL editing!!!  Just in time for Sunday's mini session!

Any hoo - this is Joseph.  His younger brother was one of my first students when I taught 5th grade.  And I can't say how thankful I have been for their mother!  She was always there to lend a helping a hand - and being a first year teacher she was a God send!  During every season and holiday she'd thoroughly plan a fun themed lesson and relieve me so I could tend to other paperwork, grading, etc.  We have kept in touch for the past 5 years (wow...was it really that long ago?!) and I plan to keep it that way.  :)

Here's Joseph....enjoy!

Baby B: Newborn Session

Baby B's newborn session was one I couldn't wait for!  I anticipated her session for two reasons (1) she is the youngest baby I've photographed and (2) I rented a macro lens.

Baby B was actually less than 2 weeks old!  And for a fairly new-newborn, she was alert!  She was awake during the entire session!  We tried to coax her to sleep with bottles and pacifiers...ah but with little success!  We were able to squeeze off a few shots of her eyes looking down, so they are tiny slits, but that was the best we could get to a closed-eye, sleepy baby.

As for the macro lens, I found I really liked it for the close up, detail shots such as the fingers and toes.  But do I want to invest 4-figures into it??  Ummm...not yet.  So for the next newborn session I'll opt to rent it again.  I thought it would be something I would absolutely fall in love with the second I used it...but as of now I'm not seeing the worth in it.  Other photographers have opinions?!  I'd love to hear!  Enjoy!

PS based on the props, can you guess Baby B's middle name?!  ;)
