Happy Fall

Better late than NEVER!  This is about a month over due!  So I've been taking care of my paying customers and neglecting my own personal collection of images.   Oh the busy-ness...as my old neighbor's wise words...'this too shall pass.'  I keep telling myself that. 

I really don't decorate for seasons until fall and winter...then it is GAME ON!  Thanks to Pottery Barn's fall catalog, I had an itch to decorate...well, and the fact I FINALLY have a home to decorate (without everything being packed away and kept 'neutral' to appeal to potential buyers).

Below you'll see a slight obsession with burlap.  :)

This wreath is really easy to make - says me who isn't really creative...pretty much everything I make is from a tutorial, not fabricated from wish-I-was-uber-craft-self.  See the tutorial here - from Top This Top That





Ehhh...not quite sure what to think about this arrangement.  We have this buffet table in our eating area.  It has nothing on it.  Still in the 'this house looks bare because we just moved in' phase.




Taking advantage of Mother Nature's free decor!  There are enough acorns to go around for all the squirrels and chipmunks in our 'hood.  They won't miss these at all.  It is pretty hard to find the 'whole' ones...with out the tops missing or little teeth marks leaves jagged scars across the smooth surface.



I should know what these are called, but I don't.  Our neighbor behind us as a huge tree in the front yard.  If it weren't for these sod pods, his yard work would be minimal this time of year!




Total IMPULSE buy at Walmart one day.  I'm not big on the el-cheapo Made in China goods, but I couldn't resist....




We light it every night for Isaac's (and my) delight!

Cost

 $50 for 30 minute session.  $53 (6% KY sales tax included) for disc with hi-res images and printing rights.  Purchase of disc includes $15 print credit - take advantage of your credits by ordering before your ordering window closes...in other words the print credit expires.
 Total Package Cost: $103

$50 deposit required to be paid by credit/debit/paypal or personal check no later than Wednesday, November 14th.  $53 payment for disc is required before disc is mailed to customer.  Images available online for viewing before payment is required.  More information available in contract.

September 2012

September 2012 will be summed up in one blog post.  I know, I know, I try to give everyone their few minutes of fame...but I just have to admit my babies and photography are keeping me too busy lately.  I realized it has been 5 days short of a month since my last blog post.  YIKES!! 

Here goes...

Happy 1st birthday to Miss K!!  You can check out the links to newborn, 3 month, 6 month, and 9 month sessions!

I must say, the best cupcake eater I've ever seen!  The cupcake didn't leave her mouth until it was done.  I believe she pushed it into her mouth as she kept eating! 

Alyssa's Senior Shoot.  I did her older sister's senior session 2 years ago at Waveland, but lil sis opted for a different venue.  So we ventured to downtown Lexington and finished up at Keeneland.  Just walking along Broadway near Short Street I found many opportunities for future sessions!

What you didn't see leading up to this shot were the trashcans that had to be removed from the ally.  Fortunately big sis and friend came along...I put them to work!  ;)

It's as if the flowers were beckoning us...perfect match for her dress!

The lighting along side the Lexington Opera House was perfect for this picture!  I should check the time stamp on the image and schedule a session for the same time next year! 

With all senior sessions, I encourage the parents and students to bring something along that shows their true selves.  Alyssa is an artist so she came prepared with her canvas, brushes and what I call her tackle box of art supplies. ;)

Back to downtown Lex for an evening of mini sessions.  Here's the E family who has passed my name along to e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e and are still faithful customers who came back about this time each year for their Christmas card pictures!

She sure was hesitant to show us the her FIRST missing tooth!  What a day to celebrate!

Once again the sun was so warming and not too illuminating to wash out the image, it can't get much better than this!  He also had a reason celebrate...a most recent personal best with speed cubing!

6, 7, & 8 months...where have I been?!

Looking for my head...

This past summer was a blur.  Stress, upon more stress.  Just like your awkward middle school years you wish you could forget...

As for stress I can tell you how my body handles it.  FOOD.  Mainly sweets.  It has taken me longer to lose the baby weight with baby #2.  Sure, you can chalk it up to having zero time to get any exercise (weight lifting for sure...18 lb infant and 25 lb toddler), but when you take into consideration the amount of weight I've lost in nearly 4 weeks, I'm probably on the same weight loss track with my 1st kid or better!  And our scale broke during the move, so I really have no idea how much I've lost.  All I know is the clothes are getting looser!  And the coveted pants I want to wear again I can get snapped AND zipped...but excuse the muffin top....there are a few more laps around the neighborhood to be walked before they fit comfortably. 

Why in 4 weeks?  It has been 4 weeks since we moved into *OUR* home.  Not my parents' home.  Not the rental.  But OUR home.  The first home Nate and I picked out as a married couple....for our family.  The first home that FITS us.  All 4 of us.  And all my photography stuff.  And all my craft stuff.  And Nate's baseball cards from childhood.  Aw, I can't make it seem like it is MY house...he does have some 'junk' taking up space. 

But I digress...there's just no better feeling than arriving at your final destination.  Especially when it is home...well, our home here on Earth.  It feels like the stress has just melted away.  I really cannot fathom how children handle it.  I taught at an elementary school which had a pretty transit population...in/out of school district, in/out state and country.  Even with my 2 year old son I could tell he wasn't settled.  He didn't mind so much living with his Nana and Papa.  But I could tell he didn't like the rental home at all.  He had all his 'stuff' to make it his room.  His toys.  His bed. His blankets.  His pillow.  Everything.  But somehow he knew it wasn't 'home.'  For two months straight he would wake up every night and be scared of something.  For two months straight in the morning and want to go 'bye bye.'  He didn't care where.  We could drive around New Circle Road, hit up the McD's drive through.  He just didn't want to be in that house.  Fortunately it was summer and we had the family pool pass - so we spent several days at the pool this summer.  Or Target.  Eating popcorn.  I've created a monster now.  When we pull into Target's parking lot he squeal's with delight, " opcorn!" 

And I digress again...but since we moved into our new home, he hasn't once begged to go 'bye bye.'  Somehow he knows.  And what about Lauren?  Ha, I think she could care less! I do not believe all the change affected her like it affected the other 3 Mitchells. 

And speaking of Lauren, here are her 6, 7, and 8 month pictures.  Honestly 6/7 were taken together...pretty much two weeks apart because like I said...that's how life was this summer.  What a story to tell her when she gets older.  And she turns 9 months tomorrow...so more pictures to come soon!  Yay!

Seriously, can you tell she wasn't 'feelin' it' just as much as I was?!  They aren't great pictures, but the documentation is complete.
