Izzy & Justin: Lexington Wedding

I was totally floored when Izzy (an old neighbor and childhood friend) asked me to photograph her special day!  In complete amazement I reminded her and her parents they didn't have to use me just because they knew me...but they also liked my work (and my price I'm sure) :) 

I've always thought if you're going to have a wedding - then make it memorable.  And that's EXACTLY what they did!  And from what I heard, Izzy got exactly what she wanted...that's what meticulous planning  and the help of friends will get you.  :)  Well...I'm sure the 2, 10 foot screens which projected the UK game weren't part of her ideal wedding, but she was willing enough to share her big day with the NCAA championship game. 

The bridal party (or should I say crowd...you'll see what I mean when take a peek at the images) arrived in a stretch Hummer from Thoroughbred Limo and the driver had to make a few trips since the party was so large.  The ceremony took place at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church .  After the ceremony everyone piled into the 'party bus' from Thoroughbred Limo to ride in style to their dream reception at the Hilton.

Wee Bit Wednesday

I know it has been f-o-r-e-v-e-r since you've heard from me!  It has been that kind of month!  Finally I get a little break since Lexington now has a monsoon season.  ;)  I'm all caught up on editing and just about done with updating my blog.  Enjoy.  :)

{one} when was the last time you used a pay phone (if ever)?Wow...really...I don't even know.   {two} did you ever fail a subject in school?Never failed, but got an I in a college course.  No matter what if I aced the final I still couldn't get the grade I wanted (gotta keep that GPA, ya know).  So I took the class later to earn that better grade.  :)   {three} where do you go to get your favorite hamburger/cheeseburger?McDonalds!  Since I've married Nate, it is a battle between Burger King and McDonalds.  I grew up on McD's and he grew up with the King. {four} have you ever served jury duty?Yup...in my first trimester of pregnancy.  Luckily I never had to sit.  :) {five} how old were you when you moved out of your parents’ house?Well, 18 is when I lived in the dorms, but came home each summer, so I guess that doesn't count.  I moved out for good when I was 23.  Not too bad, eh?  I lived at home while I was building my own house. {six} what is your favorite color to wear?brown.  I really should visit the color palette and broaden my horizons. {seven} do you have a pair of shoes that you wear all the time?It is the time of year for flip flops!  Old navy are my favs! {eight} do you enjoy talk radio?The older I get the more I enjoy it.  :)  We like Dave Ramsey.  And hubby always tunes in during big political controversy...oh wait...isn't that ALL the time?!  {nine} if you could turn one unhealthy food into a healthy one, what food would it be?PIZZA {ten} who is the best speaker you’ve ever heard in person?Jon Weece...hands down.  Senior minister at our church.

Master A: Waveland

I finally managed to squeeze in this young man for a mini session.  I think his mom has tried for the past two months.  My minis book up so quick! 

I look forward to spring!  Everyone dons pastels to match the flowers in bloom!  Even this little guy was a good sport with his Easter outfit.  A touch of southern I might add.  Enjoy!  :)

M Family: Lexington Cemetary

Well, we managed to pull off this session.  Mama M has had her heart set on a family session at Lexington Cemetery for years.  The hours of the cemetery put a little kink in our plans, but we pulled it off.  The cemetery hours are from 8-5pm.  This time of year 5pm is a wee bit early to take pictures outside, so that leaves 8am...yup...coffee in hand we were there when the gates opened (and the came from outside of Lex...that's dedication)!

What I love about this family is they have a realistic view of their kids.  Mama M knew her 2 year old wouldn't still for posed pictures, so she really wanted me to tag along as the family interacted together.  I must say when families come into a session without expectation and know their children's limitations, they can't be disappointed with how the session and images turned out.  It also takes the stress off the photographer...we can't make your toddler sit a certain way or smile when we want them - but if you let your kids be kids, you will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome of images.  :) 

Also, for those families who book an extended family session (beyond 1 hour) you get your posed pictures but the second half of the session is devoted to catching your family interacting together.  Show your true selves and these pictures may be more valuable to you than the posed ones.  :)

And this fam is a bit near and dear to my heart.  :)  I did my student teaching under Mama M 5 years ago.
