Little Miss A :: The Big ONE

She's one.  I usually get sad once the babes reach one, since that means I won't see them every few months.  However, the K family has grown to be more than customers.  They're friends.  Who invite us to cook outs, birthday parties and play dates.  And will somehow play a special role in our lives.  I'm not sure what that is, but people come and go and I'm quite happy they came into our lives.

So you'll probably see more of them, but for now, here they are romping around on a friend's farm. 

The S Family Extended :: Keeneland

The G Family have been long time customers (well, I've only been in business for about 4 years, so long time meaning almost 4 years!).  They picked Keeneland for their location and it fit the bill with all the toddlers...lots of green space to roam and explore! 

For 3 toddlers, we NAILED it!

For some reason the little boys were more at ease in the grass...so be it!  We still got great family shots!

Girly Girls :: Downtown Lexington

Their mom told me they were girly girls.  They arrived with suitcases of props (literally).  Suitcases, glitter, mom's high heels and jewelry.  Need I say more?!  One of the most fun shoots I've done.  Period.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

May Mini Session :: UK Amphitheater

I cannot tell you how many times I walked past this little amphitheater on UK's campus when I was a student.  It never really crossed my mind to use it as a photog location until a UK senior did her senior session on campus and I was reunited with the amphitheater!  This evening was a low turnout, but we sure had some fun! 

Old college roomie and her son came out with their smiles and swag!  

I've missed this family this past year.  My maternity leave and taking off for moving left me with little availability, so glad to see their familiar faces this summer!

And I was introduced to the world of Matilda Jane...watch out my precious daughter and pocketbook!!

The E Family :: New Beginnings

He may not have his mom's nose or dad's smile, but he is theirs. 

Finally.  

This May marked a huge day for this couple.  They officially became their lil man's parents.  

When I meet families, you can definitely tell the role each parent plays in the family.  When fathers act just as goofy as mom to get their kiddos smile, wait patiently for a tantrum to subside and come up with fun poses it melts my hearts.  When moms have poise and a gentle demeanor to show their tot that they 'mean business', you know they love their child fully.  There are no better hands for this lil man to be in except for this mom and dad. 

May you have many more joyful moments with the loves of your life!

As you scroll through, we had many fun 'pinspirational' poses!  I encourage families to bring ideas to make their sessions fun and unique!  But I always gently remind them that the ideas they found on pinterest or their sis-n-laws family photos were not taken by yours truly.  Photography is an art.  Just like any famous painter (take Starry Night by Van Gogh for instance), an original can be imitated, but never duplicated. The same for photography.  Imitation is the best form of flattery.  So we flattered some photographers during our session!  ;)
